I get that some stuff like private channels are weird and tricky because of the sharepoint back end but other stuff really isn't that difficult. 3 people were working on Teams they'd make progress on the QOL stuff you'd think.

Multi-year dev cycles for small quality of life fixes is bizarre. My main complaint is that the dev team is slower than hell for a program that has the kind of adoption rates that Teams does. We're leveraging it's integration into O365 to make navigation easier. Inside the IT pilot it did what it needed to do. My org has around 4k users and while I have a lot of complaints about teams, it's reduced the incidence of email chains hundreds to thousands of emails long by about 99.999%.

The fact it's bundled free with our O365 subscription is the only reason my boss won't let me find a suitable replacement (I MEAN SLACK IS A FUCKING THING). So, it's frustrating as hell typing a reply to someone, and then someone else coming in and hammering a million new threads in as individual chats and forcing you to find the "thread" you were replying to. It works for me, but half my users report it breaking and having to force close and reopen the app to make it work again. This would be fine if the GODDAMN REPLY BUTTON WORKED. Whoever decided to make the chat layout a thread-based bulletin board instead of a legit chat room, fucking hari-kiri, now. We came from Atlassian Hipchat, and while that wasn't perfect, I could paste anything I wanted in the chatbox from my clipboard, I could drag and drop anything I wanted and post, it didn't scroll around on me or lock itself up, it didn't consume almost a gig of RAM, and when I told it to open it actually opened instead of opening, closing, and forcing me to kill the hung task, and opening it again. "But IT Guy!", you say, "IT HAS A DARK MODE! So progressive! And lookit! GIFS AND MEMES! So cool and hip!"

When this fucking code vampire bogs down our systems, casually scrolls up as I am reading or typing replies to chats, steals focus from anything I'm doing when I get a chat, keeps toast notifications indefinitely forcing me to manually close them, or the fact I cannot paste images from my clipboard to the chat box like LITERALLY EVERY OTHER ENTERPRISE CHAT APPLICATION makes me want to force uninstallation across my entire network via SCCM. It's buggy, it wastes a lot of resources, but the absolute worst part of it is is you somehow managed to work in just enough shiny features to "please" the higher-up corporate executive types who approve of things like onboarding new chat clients for the company, while covering over the bugs that make folks like me (I work in internal-user-facing support) cringe and yell in frustration.
You've managed to create an absolute abortion of a chat application. If you're sitting there wondering "Is this guy serious", yes, pea-brain, I am.
